Captain Cook

Hello bloggers this is a really interesting book about captain cook that you should read about.

did you know over a hundred scientist watched the transit of Venus in 1761,but some couldn't take accurate measurements because of bad weather.  

also did you know that cook used a compass to find out the direction of landmarks in relation to north.this information allowed him slowly plot an image of coastline and a quadrant was used to measure the angle between and the horizon and the sun.








  1. an instrument with a graduated arc of 60° and a sighting mechanism, used for measuring the angular distances between objects and especially for taking altitudes in navigation and surveying.
